For
me photography is all about people. I have always been a real people
person, which is why I chose hairdressing as a career at the age of
15. That was also about the time I first discovered a true love for
photography. I'm now 39 and gave up hairdressing years ago, but I never
gave up taking photos. It's taken me a lot of years to learn what I
now know about photography, but the most important aspect was always
there...a true love for meeting and working closely with people.
Having
your photograph taken is a somewhat up close and personal experience,
not to mention quite daunting for most. I'm very appreciative of this,
and realise that the most important thing is to make my subject relaxed
and at ease. It is the key to creating a truly beautiful portrait, no
matter what age my model may be.
If
life experience counts for anything I believe I've learned enough along
the way to help me relate to most people who walk through my door. I'm
a typical woman with self image issues, so I'm not very comfortable
being photographed myself. I'm married, so I know the time and effort
that goes into planning a wedding and how important this very special
day is. I've been pregnant, twice, and experienced first hand the emotions,
both high and low, that go with carrying a baby. Last, but never least,
I'm a Mum. I know the joy of looking into a little face and feeling
my heart swell 'till I think it might burst. My two little boys, Eddie
who's 6and Perry who's 3, are quite simply the most brilliant thing
I've ever done. I absolutely love life, I adore my husband Mick, and
I live for my kids. Oh, and I think photography is the most fantastic
creative outlet someone like me could have.
