advice

  weddings
- Make sure you allow enough time to have lots of really beautiful photographs taken, without rush or panic.
- Keep natural daylight in mind when planning the time frame of your day.
- Plan outdoor ceremonies in full shade, rather than bright sun or patchy dappled light from trees.
- Try to have family members you wish to include in group photographs advised before hand.
- Have someone organised to bring drinks and snacks to the wedding party while having photographs taken.
- Have make-up for minor touch-ups on hand...and ask your hairdresser for some spare hairpins for emergencies.
- Have a wet weather plan, including alternate photography locations and access to plenty of plain coloured umbrellas.

  portraits
- Keep an eye on magazines for photographs you like and bring some along to show me.
- Bring several changes of clothing to create different looks in your photos, including light and dark colours.
- Bring any make-up you're wearing with you so minor touch ups can be applied.

- Make sure your fingernails look nice....no chipped or worn off polish.
- For nude or semi nude photos take your bra and undies off at least one hour before to ensure no marks on your skin.

  pregnancy
- Where possible bring both black and white bra and undies.
- Bring a plain black pair of pants.
- Bring tops that unbutton or open at the front...preferably something dark and something light.
- Bring something to eat...pregnant women can get 'low' very quickly and a snack will save the day.

  newborns
- If possible have your new baby photographed in the first 2 weeks. Very young babies are generally calmer, sleepier and not yet suffering from the
rash and milk pimples that many babies get at 3 weeks and older.
- Try to bring baby straight after a sleep and a feed. I'll be understanding, and flexible with your appointment time.
- Bring formula for bottle fed babies even if they have just been fed.
- Bring a nice blanket or wrap for photographs.
- Bring a nice outfit if you wish, though most people prefer baby naked.
- Parents bring plain dark and light clothes for posing with baby.
- Nursing mothers bring something for yourself to eat...perhaps a high energy snack.
- Newborn photography sessions can take up to two hours, depending on how frequently baby needs a break.

  babies
- Try to have your baby photographed in the morning after a sleep and a feed.
- Bring a plain white singlet, and any other outfits you like.
- Bring baby's dummy if one is normally used.
- Bring any toys baby is particularly fond of.
- Bring milk for bottle fed babies even if they have just been fed.
- Bring a snack and a drink for older babies.
- Parents bring plain dark and light clothes for posing with baby.

  children
- Most young children are at their best in the morning.
- Make sure young children won't be due for a sleep during the session. Tired kids rarely co-operate.
- Keep clothing plain and simple....no big pictures or writing as it detracts from the child's face.
- Little tots look very sweet photographed in just a nappy and singlet.
- Bring a snack and a drink.
- Make sure little fingernails are clean, and bring wipes or a facewasher for 'foody' hands and faces.
- Bring any toys that comfort, and any toys you might like the child to pose with.
- If your little one is unwell on the day of your appointment it's best to re-schedule rather than soldier on.

  family
- Keep clothing plain and simple....no big pictures or writing as it detracts from the faces.
- A clothing theme can look great...all in denim, all in white T-shirts etc.
- Lots of different bright colours also looks very effective.
- Consider bringing more than one outfit for everybody.
- Make sure young kids won't be tired during session.
