A quiet, intimate moment in the church after the ceremony with just the bride and groom. Oh… and me! 

After the ceremony we went back to John and Kristy’s house to escape rain, and take some more portraits.

Luckily the rain didn’t last long.  We then headed back out into the late afternoon sunshine in very ‘sensible’ footwear for the muddy ground. I have to say this is my only wedding party ever to wear blundstone boots. Just awesome!

The gorgeous colours of the dusk sky made a breathtaking backdrop for our last 15 minutes of photographs, before heading to the reception.

Kristy and John’s cake sat next to a framed photograph of Kristy’s grandparents cutting their cake. The ornament from the top of the cake in the old photograph is still in perfect condition! And there is Kristy’s Grandmother, wearing the same wedding gown. I tingled all over when I saw the old photograph.

I should mention that Kristy’s Grandfather attended the wedding, and watched his beautiful Granddaughter walk down the aisle in his late wife’s dress. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church…. not even their photographer. I often have a little tear in my eye and a lump in my throat during the ceremony when I’m taking photographs, but this was different. I was really crying. It was just so emotional! I do believe that Kristy’s Grandmother was present that day, in heart and spirit. I will always remember this wedding as one of the most touching, emotional events I have ever had the honour of photographing.
