I started the day very early at a barber shop in Eaglehawk, where Chris and his groomsmen all had a close shave with a cut-throat razor. Afterwards we met at Chris and Karla’s house to photograph the guys getting ready. Chris looked very suave in his wedding attire, and I really liked the splash of orange with the groomsmen’s ties to add to the black and white colour theme. Very stylish!

After leaving Chris and the boys we moved on to where Karla and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Karla looked amazing in her white, pure silk wedding gown, the gorgeous black sash and bow complementing her glossy black hair. Her three bridesmaids also wore black, with gorgeous orange lily bouquets adding a burst of colour.

As I have already mentioned the sun came out for Chris and Karla’s ceremony in the park, and surrounded by their family and closest friends they became husband and wife. Afterwards we went to a few different locations for photographs including Rosiland Park, the steps of the Bendigo Law Courts and a lovely grassy spot just on the perimeter of the city. We also went to the Bendigo Train Station to escape the rain, and captured some amazing images as the sun streamed through the last of the rain for the day. Yes, bad weather can be somewhat inconvenient, but when I am presented with skies, sunlight and rain like that I have to admit I am so very glad we had crazy weather! Bring it on!

Thank you so much Karla and Chris for giving me the opportunity to photograph your special day. I was so exhilarated capturing some of these images for you, and very grateful for your easy going, non-fuss attitude. I know not every couple would deal with such elements as gracefully as you did, and you honestly made my job so enjoyable and stress free. I also really appreciated your bridal party. That is a truly awesome group of friends that you have! I look forward to meeting with you again soon to present you with the rest of your images.

Brianna and Scott were married in Rosiland Park on Saturday the 14th of March with a reception later that evening at Quills Restaurant. They had rain to contend with that morning, right up until an hour before the ceremony, with the sky threatening more rain. Even though they had a back up venue organised, they made a gutsy decision to go ahead with their planned service in the great outdoors…. a decision that really paid off. It never did rain again, and their ceremony was so beautiful in the surroundings of Bendigo’s most magnificent park.

We started the day taking photographs of Scott and his groomsmen getting ready. I absolutely love these images of Scott…. he looks so incredibly suave.

We then moved on to Scott and Brianna’s house where the girls were getting ready. Here’s a gorgeous shot of Brianna’s engagement ring, laying on the beaded detail of her wedding gown, Delicious!

Some very romantic and occassional steamy portraits of the newlyweds. These two were so affectionate, it seemed thay were always kissing! It made my job SO easy…. and some of these images nearly stop my heart. Ooooh… I just LOVE romance.




For some reason trees with tall bare branches bring out my gothic-ness. I just love a bit of drama and moodiness.The bridal party were a fantastic, fun loving group. They look brilliant all in black among the vibrant green leaves.
The look on Brianna’s face really says it all.

I have already made a post about this pussy cat (check it out here) but I wanted to include a couple of images in this post as well. This is one awesome cat!

The wedding cake was AMAZING. I just love clean simple lines. I think this cake is so fantastic, it doesn’t even need colour.
A great shot of the reception room at Quills Restaurant during the speeches. It’s a fantastic, contemporary venue, right accross the road from lake Weeroona.
I love Scott and Brianna’s reactions to the speeches. Plenty of heartfelt emotion, and lots of laughs… just how great speeches should be.

Brianna and Scott… I had such a great time being with you on your wedding day. Everything was so classy and beautiful, and you were both so happy, relaxed and a joy to work with. I loved your wedding, I really loved your friends, but most of all I truly LOVED the way the two of you gaze at each other. Your mutual adoration is so plain to see, and such a beautiful thing to observe. Thank you for trusting me to capture the memories of your special day!

Jayde and Rob both got ready (in different rooms….) at Hunter House which was also their reception venue. Because their family and friends are not local to Bendigo, most of them also stayed at Hunter House. It made things very easy for everyone, all being in the same place. I must say Hunter House is one of my favourite locations in Bendigo to take photographs. As you look through these images I think you’ll see why!

Then we simply walked down the hallway to where Rob was getting ready. I have used a very vintage looking black & white effect on the first two images, with a rustic texture overlay. It really gives them an earthy, old fashioned look.

I used a video light, which is basically just a hand held spotlight, to add mood and atmosphere in these images of Rob. I love trying to re-create the look of vintage photographs and movie stars. I think Rob looks very debonair, and very cool… just the desired result.

This is one of my favourite images of the day, with Rob and his friend Adam. For the record we did not light that cigar in Hunter House! We just pretended…

Jayde’s father kissing her cheek as he ‘gives her away’ to Rob. The ceremony in Rosiland Park was really lovely, and amazingly enough in this drought, very green.

Rob, Charlie and Jayde. Wow…. that is one good looking family. Charlie did a magnificent job smiling for the camera. It’s not always easy photographing itty bitty ones, but thanks to a suggestion from Jayde, I had a secret weapon. Bubbles! Worked like a charm.

Jayde didn’t have to dig too deep to find her inner Diva! I just love this image, and was laughing like a loony when I shot it.


A divinely pink doorway.

This is my favourite location in Bendigo. I have made up silly names for a few of my fave locations, and I call this one ‘Deep Forest’… ha ha ha. Looking at this image though, I think I should re-name it ‘The Enchanted Wood.’ Well, maybe not. But this does have a fairy tale look to it.

I almost feel like I should look away from this one. VERY hot.

Back to Hunter House with enough time for a few more photographs. These first two were shot in the blue room, the same room that Jayde got ready in.

This last series were taken on the magnificent old staircase, using video light. This is always the highlight of my day when shooting a wedding at Hunter House. I just LOVE this staircase, and the gorgeous lamp that hangs above it.

This was definitely the biggest surprise of the day, for everyone! When announced into their reception as Mister and Missus, music started up, then Jayde and Rob and burst into the room with an absolutely AWESOME dance routine! They were just fantastic, and evoked screams of delight from all their family and friends. Sneaky devils didn’t tell me about this, but I must say the surprise was just wonderful, and luckily I was in a great position to catch the action. There are a lot of bridal dance routines floating around Youtube, and I’ve spent hours watching and laughing. I’m thrilled to finally have one of my couples pull some fab, brilliantly rehearsed moves at their wedding. Bravo guys! Bring it on!

Some detail shots of the glorious wedding cake, personalised candles and bonbonniere. Jayde made all of the place cards and gift boxes herself, and did an amazing  job. More than just a gorgeous face!
One last shot of Hunter House in all it’s glory, before Sue and I climbed into my car, exhausted and very happy, and headed home. What a brilliant day! I feel so lucky to have met and shared such a special day with Jayde and Rob.
