MARISSA & JOSH’S WEDDING

Marissa & Josh were married in late March 2008, long before I started this Photo Journal. I photographed many beautiful weddings before starting this journal, and I would love to go back and write about them all. Unfortunately I simply don’t have the time to do so, as I’m already way behind posting about my recent weddings. The reason I have singled out this wedding from more than a year ago is that it was recently featured in our local wedding Magazine, I Do I Do Creations, as highlighted in my previous post. I thought it would be lovely to show their wedding here in more detail.

Marissa & Josh were married at the magnificent Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo, with a reception held that evening at Quills. Everything about this wedding was lavish and classy, but the thing I remember most about their day is ‘fun’. When this couple explode into spontaneous laughter, everyone in their vicinity has no choice but to join in. At the same time they are deeply in love. Spending a small amount of time in their company leaves you with no ounce of doubt about that.

Just to break with tradition, I’m going to begin with 2 photographs of Marissa that were featured in I Do I Do Creations Magazine. These were both taken after the ceremony, so I’m jumping forward in the timeline of their day here. This first image was shot in View Street in Bendigo, in front of my favourite pink cafe. It’s rather considerate of them to have a mirror hanging there for me…. don’t you think?

This photograph was taken in the stairwell of a gorgeous apartment that Marissa & Josh were staying in on their wedding night. A little more about that later in the post. Anyway, who cares about the stairwell? Just look at this glorious bride! She’s like an angel.

Rewind to the start of the day, with Marissa and her bridesmaids getting ready. The wedding gown by Elizabeth de Varga was stunning, in soft oyster pink. Even before I saw Marissa wearing the gown, I knew I was in for something truly special.

Marissa with her sister and two dear friends. I just love the bridesmaids different coloured dresses.

ABBEY & GLENN’S WEDDING

This is another amazing wedding from late last year and one I will always remember with a huge smile on my face!  Oh just wait until you see the wedding cars later in the post!

Abbey and Glenn were married in a tiny town called Prairie, about an hour north of Bendigo, at the historical property of Prairie Park. Their ceremony took place in the garden of the original old home, which is currently under extensive rennovation. The reception was held in a massive white marquee, set up on the property.

I’ll begin with some images of Abbey and her attendants getting ready in one of the beautifully rennovated bedrooms at Prairie Park.

Some final adjustments to Abbey’s dress. The girls electric blue satin dresses looked fabulous, especially with the window light skimming accross them.

Abbey with her beautiful bridesmaids.

Abbey’s darling little neices were just thrilled to be her flowergirls. Oh my, they are SO adorable.

I sensed such a special bond between Abbey and these two sweet little girls. This image just makes me gasp. I decided to give it a very aged, old world look with texture and frame overlays and a low contrast, faded black and white colour treatment. I think it really adds to the mood of the photograph.

Two little blue fairies, jumping for joy. I can’t think of a better reason to jump….

Christina Montemurro - Annie, this is amazing, amazing work! I kept thinking whilst looking at them, “this is my favorite. No, THIS one is my favorite.” If I had to choose, I think I’d pick the ones with them in the window (how cool are they for going up there on their own!) and the off camera lit ones at the end. Fabulous.

robin cornett - I totally agree–every time I thought I had a favorite shot, I saw another one that made my jaw drop. Annie, these are stunning. Every last one of them. I love the tractors, and those bridal getting ready shots are wonderful.

Sylvia Borgo - Oh, Annie! These are wonderful! So classic, so perfect! I am in awe!

Mariea Rummel - Annie! These are amazing! Your clients I bet are thrilled. Beautiful work.

Frank DiMeo - ANNIE! These are incredible!!!
I remember your interest a long time ago in George Hurrell. I think I may have been the one who turned you on to him? He would be proud to see what you have accomplished. It isn’t just your amazing lighting though. Your compositions and poses are so reminiscent of the Renaissance painters. It is astonishing to see how you are combining a little bit of everything to make it your own.
Bravo!!

Zak - These are just beautiful Annie! Love the guys getting ready…so fun, and the ones on the tracks and the fields are great! My son keeps making me go back to the train track ones…he love trains. :)

Arley - Hi Annie,

These wedding photographs are just stunning. Love the use of various landscapes and different lighting.

From the desaturation to the vintage post processing…..they rock!

well done,

arley

Katy - Love all the colors! The flower girls are too cute. Great idea, little ballet slippers for them. So much comfier and fun to run around in! Post processing was also perfect!! Gorgeous stuff!

Sue Thomas - Annie, I was a guest at this wedding, and have seen these photos many times but looking at them again in your journal has brought tears to my eyes. You truly captured the love of these two beautiful people and the spirit of Prairie Park. Congratuations

Amanda - Annie, I know this couple and the photos are absolutely stunning!! You have captured them both magnificently, and Prairie Park which looks fantastic! Gorgeous photos, with pics like these you’d be proud to capture ones special day! Congratulations!

catherine - Hi Annie,

I have been looking at wedding photo’s and wheat fields and am amazed at your photo’s of this wedding. Could you please let me know where these photo’s were taken as I’m looking for a place to have a country wedding in the wheat fields around February 2011.

Thankyou for your help.

MELANIE & BEN’S WEDDING

Melanie and Ben were married on Friday 26th of September at Quat Quatta, a magnificent historic home in Ripponlea, Melbourne. This was my first Melbourne wedding, and I must admit I was quite apprehensive about photographing a wedding in unfamiliar territory… in the big city. Gee, I sound like such a country bumpkin, but I do feel so safe working in Bendigo and surrounding areas that I know well. Once I actually met Melanie and Ben the week before though, all my fears just faded away. They’re just the sweetest couple, and I found their level of excitement regarding their up coming wedding and their enthusiasm about the photography irresistable. One look at Quat Quatta’s website helped my decision also. The old house is absolutely stunning! Besides, it was well and truly time for me to spread my wings, broaden my horizons and finally shoot in Melbourne . I could not have started with a more beautiful wedding….

We began the day photographing Ben and his groomsmen getting ready in a gorgeous old home in St Kilda.

Pure Emotions Photog - HOLY COW!! What a smoking hot bride and groom! You have so many that I love that I can’t think straight to comment on them.

Your attention to detail, your compositional elements and your lighting are beautiful, immaculate and professional. Your colors and toning are great!

The shot of her putting her earring on was captured so beautifully. I love the feeling from it.

I adore how cool and comfortable you’ve made the guys look in these photos and how you’ve made them an important part of the day. I try to do this at every wedding. I feel they get overlooked a lot.

Those sunset shots where you have them lit with an off camera light are just splendid! OMG amazing!

Okay there’s more that I love but this bride and groom should be over the moon for these photos. They are just simply out of this world amazing!

Frank DiMeo - Wow Annie I totally agree with everything Pure Emotions said. Your work is so clean and pure. It is the perfect combination for such a beautiful couple.
