SARAH & SAM’S WEDDING

Sarah and Sam were married in May at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo, with a reception that evening in the Platinum Room at The Foundry Hotel Complex. It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding, and I was in heaven photographing this amazing couple on their special day. I’ll begin my post with photographs of Sarah and her bridesmaids getting ready at the Hotel Shamrock. They had a beautiful big room with lots of lovely natural light, neutral decor and antique furniture. Just perfect for photographs!

Sarah’s 2 sisters and 2 best friends, helping her get into her magnificent ivory, silk wedding gown.

Sarah looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown. Her quiet grace and elegance quite simply took my breath away, and looking through the lens at her seemed a little like stepping back in time. Oh my… what a divine bride!

A vintage treatment adds to the old world feel of this photograph of the girls. They all look so beautiful!
Some vintage inspired glamour utilising the tungsten lights in the room and video light.

JILL & MICK’S WEDDING

Jill and Mick were married on Saturday 17th of April in a lovely garden ceremony at the Ravenswood Homestead, with a reception that evening at The Capital Theatre in Bendigo. They were blessed with beautiful sunny weather for their celebration, and had a brilliant, fun filled day. I had never been to the Ravenswood Homestead before. It certainly is an amazing venue, and I could honestly spend hours roaming around the property and gorgeous buildings taking photographs… and STILL want more time. Of course wedding days aren’t quite like that though, and we had always planned to get back to Bendigo with enough time for some photographs around the beautiful old buildings. Jill & Mick were very keen to have some photographs taken when the buildings are lit up in the early evening. I brought extra flashes and stands with me, and had a great time setting up some dramatic images.

I will begin this post with two of my favourite images from the end of the day, taken in front of the old Post Office and War Memorial in Pall Mall, Bendigo. I have never shot with more than one off camera flash on a wedding day before, but I love the results and think it was definitely worth the extra effort.

Jill and her bridesmaids got ready at Jill & Mick’s home. As usual I began by taking photographs of all of the lovely details.
Jill had her Mother’s bridal horseshoe sewn to the inside of the skirt of her wedding gown. A beautiful and personal touch!

The gorgeous bride looking absolutely radiant. I love the way this aqua wall sets off Jill’s beautiful skin tones and dark hair. Just lovely, and a little bit vintage looking with some subtle texture added to the photograph.
Jill with her beautiful bridesmaids.

I had to include a photograph of Jill with her ‘babies’. These are two very pampered and utterly adored little dogs.

ALICIA & MATT’S WEDDING

Alicia & Matt were married on Saturday 10th April in Bendigo at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo, with a reception that evening at The Conservatory. It was a fantastic day and such a beautiful wedding. As I write this Alicia & Matt are around the other side of the world enjoying their honeymoon. No doubt they are having the time of their lives, embarking on one exciting adventure after another. I do happen to know (through an inside informant) that they’re extremely excited to see some of their photographs, so I’ll cut the chit chat and just get to the photographs. I hope you love them Alicia & Matt!

Once again I’m going to start this post with a few of my favourite images of the gorgeous Bride & Groom. These were actually the last location photographs we took on the day and although the light was almost gone those last ten minutes of dusk always seem to the most beautiful for light and colour.
.

Rewind to the start of the day. As always I began the day photographing the guys getting ready. Matt absolutely rocked these images. He looks incredible!

Beautiful window light illuminating Matt and his groomsmen. Just for the record we were missing one groomsman at this early stage of the day. His plane was just landing about the time I photographed the guys. No matter. The most important thing is he arrived safely and made it to the church on time!

Contrary to what he had told me, Matt was a dream to photograph. What a handsome groom.

AIMEE & DAVID’S WEDDING

Aimee & David were married in Bendigo at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Saturday the 20th of March. They had a fantastic day with truly perfect weather, and I had such a great time photographing them on their special day. Just for some variety I have decided to begin this post with some of the gorgeous images I took around the grounds of the Cathedral after their ceremony. Please remember to click the link for ‘More Images’ if you want to see photographs of David and Aimee getting ready, the ceremony and more of the locations.

I just loved the wedding cars, and this was the perfect location to get a photograph of the 3 of them lined up. I haven’t seen these vintage Rover’s at any other weddings. I’m fairly sure Aimee told me they all belong to a family friend. Such beautiful old cars!

A very dramatic image of Aimee & David with their gorgeous wedding cars. I must say I think we are incredibly lucky to have such a magnificent Cathedral in Bendigo.

The architecture of the Cathedral is so inspiring. Such a great looking wedding party too!

Seriously, these two are such sweet couple. Several times throughout the day I saw them just gazing at each other, completely lost in their own little world. True love for sure.

A great shot of the gorgeous wedding party.  Such a happy, easy going group… it makes my job so much fun!

JESSICA & SHANE’S WEDDING

Jessica and Shane celebrated their wedding on Saturday the 6th of March at the Wellsford Forest Retreat. This fabulous venue is nestled in the gorgeous bushland of the Wellsford Forest about 30 minutes out of Bendigo, and includes a rustic mudbrick homestead, an outdoor pavilion style chapel and a reception centre called The Acacia Room. Because Jessica & Shane live in Queensland and had travelled to Victoria along with many of their family and friends, this venue was a great choice with everything in one place! I’m certain the main reason was the picturesque setting of the Australian bush though. It was quite simply everything this couple had dreamed of for their wedding day. I personally enjoyed the ease and benefit of not having to drive to multiple locations, with Jessica & Shane both choosing to get ready inside the Homestead on location.

I’ll begin with some of Jessica’s details. I’m so in love with that perfume bottle. Just amazing, and one I’d never seen before. The divine bouquet of Australian native flowers was from The Eternal Vase in Bendigo. Oh my they do beautiful work!

Jessica looked positively divine in her satin and chiffon gown. So very simple and classy!

I love the warm gold light that radiated from the earth walls in the main bedroom of the Homestead. The setting had a colonial yet very elegant feel.

Jessica looking up to a skylight in the ceiling… a great opportunity to use natural light in a dramatic way.

Jessica with her two beautiful bridesmaids… who also happen to be her sisters.
